  • Louis Suttle

    Board of Advisor

Mr. Louis D. Suttle has over four decades of extensive experience in the healthcare industry, spanning from his tenure with PathGroup until his retirement in 2017. In 1998, he joined PathGroup, a newly established entity, with the primary objective of positioning the company as a regional leader in pathology and clinical testing services within the healthcare sector.

During his tenure with PathGroup, Mr. Suttle held various leadership positions, including Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer. He eventually assumed the role of EVP Chief Compliance Officer and Administration, which encompassed external legal interactions, departmental oversight, and healthcare records and data compliance.

As part of the leadership team, PathGroup experienced significant expansion, moving beyond its central location in Nashville and expanding its operations through marketing, sales, and acquisitions into multiple states. The company’s operations necessitated the expansion of its facilities and testing menu, including molecular diagnostic services and other highly specialized testing modalities.

Mr. Suttle was instrumental in the company’s successful recapitalization, which involved collaborations with Primus Capital, Pritzker Private Capital, and an investment from Brentwood Capital Advisors, an independent investment bank.

During his two distinct tenures with the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), spanning twenty years, he held various positions, culminating in his role as the Chief Executive Officer of Columbia/HCA Nashville Regional Laboratory Services from 1996 to 1997. Prior to his tenure with HCA, HCA owned a laboratory entity known as Allied Clinical Laboratories. In 1983, he transferred to the Allied management team with the expectation of HCA selling the entity. The Allied management team and Warburg Pincus, a globally recognized private equity firm, successfully acquired the entity from HCA in 1989. Subsequently, he assumed the role of Senior Vice President of Northern operations, overseeing several regions of the United States. He was a member of the management team responsible for the successful public offering of Allied Clinical Laboratories in 1990. Through strategic acquisitions and same-store sales, Allied experienced aggressive growth, eventually becoming the sixth largest laboratory in the United States. Allied Clinical Laboratories was subsequently acquired by Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp) in 1994.
